(People's Daily) The famous American hotel company #Marriott International has triggered outrage in China after customers noticed Tibet, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan listed as “countries” in a member questionnaire.
The blatant mistake was made public by a netizen on Tuesday on Sina Weibo with screenshots of the questionnaire that was sent to members. The four regions in China were listed together with Chinese mainland under the “country list.”
“How many times have I reported this? Not once did you correct this mistake, and now you dare to be even bolder!” a net user commented. The netizen claimed that the previous list included Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao, but excluded Tibet.
“And you’re doing it in Chinese??? Don’t you feel disgusted???” the net user asked.
The post immediately drew wide attention and has been reposted close to 13 thousand times as of press time. Many netizens left comments to show support to the post writer and demanded Marriott to apologize. Some called for a boycott.

Marriott Reward released a notice on its Sina Weibo on Tuesday, saying that “We are deeply sorry for the questionnaires. We realized that this mistake would deeply disappoint our Chinese customers. For now, we have suspended the questionnaires and fix the options at once. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the incident.”
I don't see any "mistake" on the part of Marriott's - safe perhaps for Hong Kong and Macau which truly have come under legitimate Chinese rule. The other territories are occupied by China or on the list of to occupy's.
