Coal is the cheapest and most plentiful energy resource in most nations.
If you want to argue who's got the worst smog that's your business.
It depends on what area you live in. Even the US is still using coal for
power generation and some of its areas are the pollution is still unacceptable.
You have to pay a price for progress. It's unavoidable.

Saying smog is inevitable for developing countries is a cop-out for lazy politicians who can't exercise the necessary political will. Why on Earth would you want to repeat the exact same mistakes as previous countries?

Tell me then why a Country (also a Continent) with the size of Australia and 25 mill. people uses coal-fired power stations which are allowed to produce levels of toxic air pollution that would be illegal in the US, Europe and China...
Some coal-fired power plants in New South Wales were allowed to emit 666 times what would be allowed in the US, and 33 times what is allowed in the EU and China

Go and get them lazy politicians down there.
