More fantasy ...
" It backfired on them -- it forced us (necessity is the mother of all invention ...
Man, are you smoking dope or something?
The vast majority of the tech knowledge that has been introduced to the Chinese aviation industry by returning overseas Chinese scholars. They LEARNED this knowledge by working in western aviation industries and academic institutions.
Wrong. The vast majority of the tech knowhow for defense industries was introduced to China from the Soviet Union: jet fighters, cruise missiles, nuclear weapons, rocket engines, you name it. Overseas Chinese scientists who have acquired Western citizenships were NOT allowed to return to China during the Cold War but were allowed to return to China ONLY after the Cold War to work in CIVILIAN not defense industries.
Other elements were indeed researched by Chinese scientists in China, most likely following the model endorsed by dear old Grandpa Wen - leading to western tech companies in China labelling the official R&D policy as 'Replicate & Duplicate' when they were forced to transfer tech to Chinese industry in their joint ventures when seeking access to the Chinese domestic market.
Those JVs between Western MNCs and Chinese SOEs are allowed only in CIVILIAN not defense industries. To my knowledge, Western defense firms are not allowed to sell their weapons to China, much less enter into joint-venture agreements with Chinese SOEs to transfer their military technology to China.
And then, of course, we have the third strand of China's R&D policy. If its not nailed down, just steal it. State sanctioned. Not publicly but anyone with a brain knows this as fact.
The USA, USSR, UK and France got most of their technology for jet engines, cruise missiles, rocket engines, etc. from Nazi Germany where they were invented. In fact, both the USA and the USSR captured and later employed German Scientists to work for their defense and space industries which led to the development of the USA's Apollo and the USSR's Sputnik space programs. Ditto for their aerospace industries. And what did Western countries do with German patents? They stole them.
If there is one thing that was invented ... it was your claim that Chinese scientists and engineers didn't have to LEARN anything from the west. There was nothing kinky about it ... but you claim was sheer fantasy.
That poster was correct: Chinese scientists and engineers didn't learn anything from the West in DEFENSE industries because they were not allowed to do so. They did learn everything they needed to learn from the former Soviet Union where China got its military technology. If there is one thing that was invented.. it was your claim that Chinese scientists and engineers learned everything about military technology and defense industries from the West.
Any further questions?
