Germany is an interesting nation. Highly capable and industrious. Its hard to conceive how such a capable nation can some how make a decision to enter 2 wars and yet lost both. Germany also thought it could settle territorial borders through the wars but instead ended up losing more.
It is odd that such an ambitious confident and capable country does not seek its own military. What happens if one day the Jews decided to invade Germany for revenge? Although the formal narration is that Germany depends on NATO but does Germany genuinely feel comfortable outsourcing its defence to third parties or does Germany has other designs of its own directly and indirectly. Germans pride themselves in capable of doing their own thing and achieving their own success so their pride will dictate that they would prefer to defend themselves rather than have a third party dictating their defence.
Any from Germany's experience it seems that the best team doesn't necessary win.
In contrast US too had a hand in both the same wars and twice US is on the winning side. Its victories in WWII are even more spectacular defeating two most powerful militaries of that time including Japan which had the most advance and largest aircraft carrier fleet. Of course US has an atom bomb for assistance but even without using that bomb, Japan was on course for a defeat already. The notable thing is US wasn't touted as the best military then and in the two wars, it took a long while, almost nearing end game before US entered while Germany was at the start each time.
So what are the Germans really up to now in terms of their national security?
